This loop walk takes you from the hills of Glencar down through a leafy bohereen and along the sparsely-populated western shore of Caragh Lake.
You’ll be walking along a quiet country road with views of the lake and the summits of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks rising behind the hills on the far side.
The route continues down to the road that runs along the lakeshore before bringing you back to the start.
From Killorglin, take the Ring of Kerry Road (N70) toward Glenbeigh.
When you reach The Red Fox Inn, take a left onto Quaybaun then turn right to stay on Quaybaun. After 1.4 km, take a sharp right at the Yield sign onto a smaller road that goes up a hill.
When you come to the crossroads where the Kerry Way sign is, park off the side of the road where you won’t obstruct traffic or block any gates.
