Culture & heritage
As the Heart of the Kingdom of Kerry and with a packed programme of cultural events, there’s much more to Reeks District than the great outdoors.
Discover unique history and heritage at one of Ireland’s oldest festivals, the unique Puck Fair, thrill as horses thunder on the sands at the Glenbeigh Festival & Races, or delve into ancient folklore on Biddy’s Day when torch-lit processions take to our winding streets.
If it’s music and arts you are after June’s annual K-Fest is a blockbuster of an event where vacant retail outlets, deserted buildings, and even domestic homes are transformed into curated bespoke pop-up galleries and venues, featuring the best local and international talent.
Not here when a specific event is on? No bother. Sample our towns on historical walks, or head into one of our pubs for a traditional Irish welcome; many of them offer live music on weekend nights.
For a uniquely Irish experience, check out the sheep and cattle Mart in Milltown. Alternatively, learn more about Reeks District’s history with a visit to the Kerry Bog Village Museum. The only museum of its kind in Europe, it offers a fascinating insight into how people lived and worked in Ireland in the 18th Century.
