LUGHNASA CROSS QUARTER WALKING FESTIVAL

On the Gaelic calendar, Lughnasa was a time to give thanks to the god Lugh for a good harvest. Lugh was a fun-loving god, so the most appropriate way to celebrate the harvest bounty is with light-hearted revelry. In modern Ireland, harvest time is still marked with fun fairs and festivals.

This walking festival is a good way to enhance your enjoyment of our local harvest festival, Puck Fair, which is also Ireland’s oldest fair.

Lughnasa is a chance to spend the days leading up to Puck engaging in activities connected to history and culture in the coastal mountain landscapes of the Reeks District.

Mythological Views

Some of the best-loved stories from Irish folklore are set in the Reeks District. To ancient people, there was little division between the realms of real life and the spirit world. Seeing the landscape through the lens of these stories is a unique way to experience the culture.

Fresh Air

Follow pilgrim paths through mountains with the wild Atlantic below and breathe in fresh air laden with the smell of wildflowers in full bloom.

Harvest

Harvest time means a chance to savour the taste of local produce, seafood and drink when food is at its freshest.

Candlelit Sessions

After a day out in nature, unwind with a night of acoustic music in a candlelit pub.

The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop
