Beenkeragh
* Freedom to roam
BEENKERAGH
Often called 'the gate-keeper to Carrauntoohil', Beenkeragh is Ireland's second highest mountain at 1,008m.
Ridgewalk challenge
All three of Ireland's highest peaks can be bagged on the challenging Coomloughra Horseshoe ridgewalk that takes in Carrauntoohil, Beenkeragh, and Caher.
Carrauntoohill link
Beenkeragh is joined to Ireland's highest mountain by the narrow Beenkeragh Ridge, which has another summit The Bones (957m) in the middle.
Summit climb
The summit can also be reached by ascending the 650m Hag's Tooth, a large rock formation, and the steep and rocky Hag's Tooth Ridge.
Amazing views
The Coomloughra Valley, Carrauntoohill's intimidating north face, the Dingle Peninsula and Kenmare Bay can all be seen from Beenkeragh on a clear day.
