LICKEEN FOREST

Vast area of old woodland offering walking trails and views of Caragh Lake, the Reeks and the Upper Caragh River.

Lake views

Lickeen is home to a rock formation so big it's called 'Castle Rock'. In an elevated position it has great views over Caragh Lake.

Picture perfect

The entrance to the forest is by the c1810 stone Blackstones Bridge over the Caragh River. Its four arches make for a great photo opportunity.

Troubled past

Lickeen was once part of the sprawling Lansdowne Estate, managed by the ruthless businessman WS Trench.

Dog friendly

Well-behaved dogs under control are welcome at Lickeen as some of the walking routes pass through livestock.
