LAKES & RIVERS

The landscape of the Reeks, carved by Ice Age glaciers, is dotted with powerful rivers and deep loughs, including Ireland's highest lake.

CARAGH LAKE

Set in a deep valley and fed by the Caragh River, this glacial lake plays host to fishing, kayaking and paddle-boarding, as well as walking in the surrounding forests.

RIVER LAUNE

Flowing from Lough Leane to Castlemaine Harbour, the Laune is known for excellent salmon fishing, as well as a range of paddle sports.

LOUGH COOMASAHARN

This beautiful remote lake sits on the edge of the Kerry Dark Sky Reserve and plays host to night-time stand-up paddle boarding under the stars.

LOUGH CUMEENOUGHTER

One of our best places for a photo opportunity, Ireland's highest lake sits at the foot of O'Sheas Gully, one of the main routes to the summit of Carrauntoohil.
