There's so much more
Boots, boards, bikes, boats, body & mind… we may have exhausted some of the ‘b’s with our range of Signature Experiences in the Reeks District … but there’s plenty more to do here.
If you’d like to play a round, we have excellent golf courses at Beaufort, Dooks and Kilorglin. All have a strong history behind them: Dooks, for instance, is one of Ireland’s oldest links courses, while at Beaufort one of the natural obstacles golfers have to bypass includes a ruined 15th-century castle.
Our fishing in the Reeks District is second to none. Myriad lakes, rivers and streams abound with sea trout and salmon, while you can shore fish from rocks, beaches and piers. Looking to bag a big one? Hook up with one of the gillies in Killorglin or Caragh Lake.
Back on land, take a horse back ride through our deep woods, or gallop along Blue Flag beaches where the sand stretches as far as the eye can sea. On those same beaches, you can try your hand at beachcombing – if the tides are favourable, you may even see our resident century-old wreck the Sunbeam on Rossbeigh – or head into the hills for bird watching.
The more adventurous might want to try their luck at the increasingly popular sport of wild swimming in our ancient lakes and rivers – after gaining some local insight into the best places to go of course.
Spend a few days here, and you’ll soon find out why people call the Reeks District Ireland’s Adventure Playground. It’s time for you to come and play…
