Lá Bealtaine

Lá Bealtaine, or Ireland’s May Day, is one of the Killorglin Celtic Cultural Quadrant Festivals — along with Imbolc (Biddy’s Day), Lughnasa in August (associated with Puck Fair) and Samhain in November.

Lá Bealtaine begins with the Killorglin community decorating bushes, trees or branches and displaying them outside of their homes and businesses on May eve or May Morning.

Events are held town-wide to welcome the summer season and to pay respect to the Reeks District’s rich history and indigenous cultural traditions.
