Ashes Bar
Situated in the pretty village of Glenbeigh, on the Ring of Kerry, Ashes Bar is the perfect place to stop for a drink and a chat after a walk on the beach at Rossbeigh. On your way from a game of golf, why not discuss the hole-in-one that might have been, over a pint? Here’s a bar with plenty of character; hop up on a stool at the bar and join the banter or find a small nook to have a quiet chat. In the summer months, sit at one of the outside tables and watch the world go by. Tea, coffee and light snacks are also available if calling in during the day.
Ashes Bar has the comfy feel of an old traditional pub but it wasn’t always this way! Hard to believe but the bar started life as a grocery shop in 1908. In 2000, Peadar and Mary changed direction and transformed the shop into a pub. Now, their son, Peter, runs the bar, the fourth generation O’Sullivan to take on the family business. As well as business being in his blood, so to speak, so is sport! Peter was part of the management team looking after the Glenbeigh/Glencar team, winners of the GAA All-Ireland Junior Football Championship in 2017. No surprise then that the bar is a popular spot for customers to enjoy a wide range of sporting events on the bar’s tv screens.
It’s not all sport though: Ashes Bar is also a popular venue for live music.
If you’re in Glenbeigh, pop in and say hello. There’ll be a friendly welcome for you at Ashes Bar.
