Francie Sheahan's Bar
Francie Sheahan’s is a family-run pub, and well-known landmark in Killorglin. Situated near the top of the Square on the right hand side, customers have been enjoying a drink on this site since way back in 1886. In more recent times, it has become known simply as Francie’s, after Francie Sheahan, who, with his wife Sheila, took over the running of the bar in 1962. It’s now in the capable hands of their children, Dodo and Frankie.
Here’s a pub offering the best of both worlds: for a quiet drink, choose the front bar. Something livelier? Head to the one at the back, complete with pool table. There’s also a dartboard available. Francie’s is proud of its largely unchanged interior which adds to its charm and traditional ambience. There are some quirky touches too: check out the hat collection behind the bar or spend time looking at the wall filled with old photos, a kind of local ‘hall of fame’. Spot anyone you know?
Call in any time for a chat. Doors open at 8.30 am thanks to the bar’s special licence. It’s a good place to tune in to local knowledge and for tunes of all kinds: live music is a popular feature, as are impromptu singsongs!
Francie’s is also a great venue for sports fans. Enjoy the atmosphere and action of big sporting events. You’ll be well looked after by Francie Sheahan’s friendly staff.
