CROMANE MUSSELS & BOG ROADS
Leave the Lycra and cleats at home for this gentle cycle out to Cromane Point and back, passing mussel and oyster beds, and Lough Yganavan on the way.
This relaxed route can be enjoyed by anyone – and no specialist kit is needed; flat pedals and walking shoes will do just fine. The waterfront road to Cromane Point runs parallel to the strand and its far end is home to mussel and oyster beds that are the envy of Europe with views looking out to the Dingle Peninsula and Slieve Mish Mountains across the water.
The ‘bog road’ as it’s known colloquially is a quiet country road passing Dooks Beach and offering open views over Lough Yganavan, before an easy road returns you to Killorglin when you’ve had your fill of sand, sea and the seafood of the Reeks District.
