RIVER LAUNE
The Laune, which flows from Lough Leane to Castlemaine Harbour, is known for top-class salmon fishing, as well as a range of paddle sports.
Cross the Iron Bridge
The old railway viaduct, known as the Iron Bridge, passes over the Laune in Killorglin, and offers great views of the surrounding countryside.
Fishing hotspot
Salmon, sea trout and brown trout can all be found in the River Laune which has fabulous fly fishing.
Tidal River
The Laune is a tidal river with a dramatic difference in water levels at different times of day, so plan all water activities around the tide times.
Paddleboarding (SUP)
The calm waters of the Laune around Killorglin are ideal for paddleboarding, especilly under the iconic Iron Bridge.
