Sol y Sombra Tapas Bar & Restaurant
If only these walls could speak they would tell many interesting stories! A unique restaurant housed in the converted Old St James’ Church of Ireland, Sol y Sombra celebrated 10 years in business in 2016 and the building itself celebrated its 200 years. The beautiful historic setting creates the perfect backdrop for a buzzy tapas fusion experience – marrying the Spanish tapas tradition of sharing lots of dishes while using wonderful local and Irish artisan produce.
Perch at the bar and nibble on a few tasty bites while sipping a glass of wine from their extensive wine list or stay for the evening and graze through the entire menu. Either way, enjoy the buzz and atmosphere of this unique and historic setting.
Although Sol y Sombra Tapas Bar specialises in wine, it also offers a full bar serving draught beer, Irish craft beers, premium spirits and dangerously good, made to order, cocktails. It’s also the venue for Kerry Wine Club’s seasonal wine tastings.
Over 10 years, Sol y Sombra Tapas Bar has won many awards & accolades: Best Casual Dining (RAI – 2012 & 2013), Best World Food (Yes Chef – 2015 & 2018), Best Wine Experience Kerry (RAI – 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). Sol y Sombra Tapas Bar is recommended by The Michelin Guide, John & Sally McKenna’s Best in Ireland, Georgina Campbell Guides and The Lonely Planet.
